FINAL ESSAY BLOG: SOLAR CARS

Solar Powered Cars
Throughout the centuries we have always looked towards the future and what was science’s plan to help our environment. Our biggest environmental hazard is pollution, and with the power of solar cars it could help a great deal with cutting down our air pollution. There’s still a lot of research going on making the solar power function correctly making the solar powered car have many advantages and some disadvantages.

Solar powered cars run on electric power and this electric power comes from the solar collectors. Hundreds of photovoltaic cells are placed in the car and these cells can convert sunlight into electricity. This energy is then stored in solar collectors, which in turn feeds the electric motor to run the car. Each photovoltaic cell produces about one-half volt of electricity and hence the need for hundreds of such cells (Solar Power). These cells that collect the sunlight are places on the outside of the car. The fact that these cars are powered by sun allows them to prevent releasing toxic substances into the air. The world revolves around the sun and with the creation of these cars can be just another reason as to why we need the sun.

Having a solar powered car can have a lot of advantages compared to a fossil fueled car. Cars that are solar powered basically run on energy collected from the sun’s rays and that means that there is an unlimited supply of the source energy. This gives solar powered vehicles an edge over those that use up the limited supplies of oil reserves. Another advantage of solar energy is that it is also free of future costs for the supply and requires very little maintenance and upkeep. This would make solar powered cars cheap to drive. Since solar power doesn’t have any emissions, the cars would also be considered clean or “green” and not have a negative impact on the environment (Solar Powered Cars). There are just so many different advantages that come with solar powered cars; they are extremely quiet, require very little maintenance, less expensive to fuel, energy efficient, able to achieve same speed as small gasoline powered cars, solar cars can produce full power at any given speed (Go Green Solar Energy). Solar powered cars are pollution free and also solar energy is inexhaustible. This is why so much of research is being put into making solar powered cars. It has been a combined effort of scientists, engineers and various companies from all over the world to ensure that today’s solar powered cars are able to travel longer distances and also maybe in a few years be able to run on our roads like any other normal car. There are a lot of problems that engineers and scientists have to tackle before they can roll out a solar powered car that is efficient and economical. The encouraging news about solar powered cars is that it is believed solar cars would some day in the near future replace the existing combustion cars. This would mean lesser emissions of green house gases thereby making our earth a better place for us to live in (Solar Power).
Having a solar powered car has its disadvantages as well in that solar cars would not work properly on cloudy days, as they do not get enough sunlight to produce the electricity. Also running solar powered cars during nights is limited and can run until the electricity stored in the battery is exhausted. Having larger batteries to store electric power is possible, but it would mean that there is no place for people to travel in the car (Solar Power). Other disadvantages include: Batteries that aren’t designed to go for long distances (if there’s no sun, the car reverts to battery power), service stations for re-charging a solar car battery aren’t yet readily available across the country, materials required to build the batteries and the bodies of the solar cars are highly toxic, seating accommodates one or two people, so families wouldn’t benefit from a solar powered vehicle, and the cost is prohibitive for the average person (Go Green Solar Energy). The average price for one of these solar powered cars ranges between 100,000- 200,000 dollars.
There are always advantages and disadvantages when it comes to a new invention that everyone wants a part of. Having these solar powered cars will definitely have a big effect on our air pollution by lowering it. Though it will take a lot of work on making it affordable for everyone and dealing with the disadvantages that come with them. In the end we should be thinking about taking care of our planet and doing whatever it takes since this is our oxygen tank to survival.

Top 10 Movies of the Year

These are the voted top 10 movies of 2010

10. “How to Train Your Dragon”: The first must-see movie of 2010 was also
one of the year’s best surprises. What started off as an animated 3-D romp that
was aimed squarely at kids soon turned into a rousing, exciting and very moving
family adventure that adhered to the timeless sensibilities of
“boy-and-his-dog”-style classics like “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” and “The
Black Stallion.” With the “Shrek” series running on fumes after four
installments, DreamWorks Animation scored a fire-breathing hit that launched a
brand new franchise.
9. “The Town”: In Hollywood, everyone loves a great
comeback story (just ask Robert Downey Jr.). So after years of being better
known as a tabloid punchline than as an esteemed filmmaker, Ben Affleck followed
his solid directorial debut, 2007’s “Gone Baby Gone,” with this gritty Boston
crime drama that was gripping, entertaining and wholly engrossing from start to
finish. With only his second time behind the camera, Affleck proved that he was
as technically proficient at staging elaborate bank heists and intense car
chases as he was at crafting an engaging story with fully realized
characters.
8. “Kick-Ass”: Talk about a movie that lived up to its name,
“Kick-Ass” gave the superhero genre, which had been getting a bit stale and
formulaic in recent years, a swift kick in the you-know-what. Thanks to an
energetic vibe, a smart story and amazing performances from Aaron Johnson and
Chloe Grace Moretz (who stole the movie as the foul-mouthed Hit-Girl),
“Kick-Ass” did just that as one of the best superhero movies of all time.
7. “Waiting for Superman”: By taking an exhaustive review of the U.S. public school
system that was just as informative as it was infuriating, director Davis
Guggenheim did for education what his Oscar-winning documentary from 2004, “An
Inconvenient Truth,” did for the environment. Despite the efforts of a few
idealistic saviors who had brave ideas to restore the system to greatness, the
government, as usual, turned out to be its own worst enemy. If you still haven’t
seen “Waiting for Superman,” see it now; you might learn something.
6. “127 Hours”: Director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Simon Beaufoy followed up their Oscar-winning Best Picture “Slumdog Millionaire” with another unforgettable
cinematic experience that celebrated the instinct to survive and the triumph of
the human spirit. But it was James Franco’s bravura performance as trapped
adventurer Aron Ralston that took the film to a powerful emotional level that
stayed with you for well over 127 hours.
5. “Inception”: If there was ever a
movie that absolutely needed to be seen twice, this was it. Actually, seeing it
just twice barely scratched the surface of writer-director Christopher Nolan’s
cerebral, mind-bending and mind-blowing puzzle, whereupon layers and layers of
dreams (many of them happening at the same time) made for a riveting and
all-consuming cinematic experience that duly rewarded moviegoers who were up for
the challenge.
4. “The Kids Are All Right”: Director and co-writer Lisa
Cholodenko drew upon personal experience for this smart, charming and ultimately
moving portrait of a lesbian couple whose kids meet their biological sperm-donor
father. But what really made it so refreshing was how ordinary it depicted the
same-sex parents (wonderfully played by Annette Bening and Julianne Moore) as
they grappled with a variety of domestic issues, their frustration with the
careers and their never-ending challenge to keep the passion burning between
them.
3. “Black Swan”: It would have been easy to praise Natalie Portman for
her tour de force performance as a competitive ballerina whose obsessive
dedication to her craft had disastrous consequences on her sanity. But Mila
Kunis, Barbara Hershy and Vincent Cassel also gave Oscar-worthy performances in
this dark, twisted, sexy and altogether breathtaking psychological melodrama
that’s the best movie yet from director Darren Aronofsky (“The Wrestler”).
2. “The Social Network”: Director David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin
seamlessly crafted a riveting and exceptionally well-written masterwork about
the formation of the most important technological phenomenon of the last 10
years. As for who really created Facebook, well, that’s the bone of contention,
and that’s why “The Social Network” brilliantly combined the tragic elements of
ambition, greed, betrayal, jealousy and loss of innocence to ultimately triumph
as the “Citizen Kane” of the 21st Century. “Rosebud,” indeed.
1. “Toy Story 3”: It took Disney-Pixar 11 years to get from “Toy Story 2” to “Toy Story 3,” but the third installment was all the better for it, so it was worth the wait.
It made the central focus of this otherwise clever, funny and exciting
masterpiece – about the relentless passage of time – so much more effective,
profound and ultimately moving. As Woody, Buzz and the rest of the “Toy Story”
gang learned to let go of the past and embrace the future, so we should all do
the same – especially since time really does fly by.

2010 Top 10 Songs of the Year!

These are the Top 10 Songs of this year. My personal favorite for the year has to be Rihanna's "Rude Boy". My favorite by her.
10
'Rude Boy'
Rihanna
'Rude Boy' is the third single (second
international single) from her fourth studio effort 'Rated R.' Driven by steel
drums, the ska and dancehall track's title references Jamaican slang --
specifically males who are continually in trouble. After all, who doesn't love a
bad boy?

Antebellum

This top song is about the longing of late-night
companionship. A beautiful ballad for a booty-call, the song reached No. 1 on
the Hot Country charts in November, eventually transitioning over to pop radio.
The 2010 pop mix version has electric guitar replacing the country guitar twang
in the chorus and the bridge. Subtle, but it does the trick.

B.o.B
Atlanta's
newest MC and producer recruits Paramore's tangerine bombshell Hayley Williams for this
hip-hop track, featuring piano melodies and prominent clapping backbeats as he

week.

best song of 2010 is also included on B.o.B.'s debut studio album, 'The
Adventures of Bobby Ray.'

'Love the Way You Lie'
Eminem
The
blockbuster album 'Recovery' has been breaking records on the Billboard charts,
as well as its second single, 'Love the Way You Lie.' The mid-tempo rap track,
with melodic piano chords and a soaring chorus, has R&B diva Rihanna joining
Eminem to tell the story of an abusive couple who can't stay apart, despite
bringing out the worst in each other. "It's something that, you know, [Eminem
and I have] both experienced ... On different sides, different ends of the
table," Rihanna, recently told Access Hollywood.

Nintendo =D

Nintendo turned 25 years old yesterday! OMG! How I was in love with this game console! Let's look back at it's history in the making:

1977: Nintendo, a nearly 100-year-old Japanese playing card manufacturer,
releases its first gaming console in Japan, the Color TV Game
6. The system plays what are essentially six different versions of Pong.
Nintendo will go on to release five version of the console.
July 1981:
Nintendo releases Donkey Kong, marking the debut of a little antagonistic
Italian plumber named "Jumpman."
July 15, 1983: The Famicom is released in
Japan, along with three titles, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and
Popeye.
January 5, 1985: The Famicom--renamed the Nintendo Entertainment
System for an American audience--makes its stateside debut at CES in Las
Vegas.
September 13, 1985: Super Mario Bros. debuts. A sequel of sorts to
1983's vastly different Mario Bros., it becomes the best-selling game of
all-time--a title it will hold onto for more than two decades.

October 18, 1985: The NES debuts to a limited release in New York City. There
are 17 games available at launch--some of which are Famicon titles with an
included adapter. The system runs $129 at launch.
February 1986: The NES gets
wide-scale release in the US. The console ships in two versions--a $129 bundle
featuring Super Mario Bros., and a $249.99 deluxe package featuring an R.O.B.
peripheral, a Zapper, and two games. Nintendo sells one million consoles by the
end of 1986.
July 1, 1987: The Legend of Zelda debuts in the US. The title
offers a save feature built into the cartridge itself.

July/August 1988: Nintendo Power magazine debuts, featuring a preview of
Super Mario Bros. 2 on the cover.
September 4, 1988: Riding high on a
marketing blitz, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show debuts in syndication. The
show is part live-action, part-animation, and all awful.
July 31, 1989:
Nintendo debuts its portable system, the Game Boy. The console ships with Tetris
and sells 40,000 units. It will go on to sell almost 119 million units in its
lifetime.
August 23, 1991: The Super Famicom is rebranded as the Super
Nintendo Entertainment System for its US release. The market is far more crowded
this time around--a number of 16-bit challengers, including the TurboGrafx-16,
and Sega Genesis, have already hit the market. The Super Nintedo runs $199 and
ships with Super Mario World. The console will go on to sell 49 million units in
its lifetime.
September 1, 1992: Super Mario Kart debuts.

August 14, 1995: The Virtual Boy debuts. The 3D handheld is widely considered
the company's first major flop. Only 800,000 units are shipped worldwide. The
product is discontinued the following year.
September 29, 1996: The Nintendo
64 is released in the US. The 64-bit system faces even stiffer competition from
its competitors, including Sony's PlayStation, the Sega Saturn, the Atari
Jaguar, and the 3DO, among others. While Nintendo's market dominance slips
during the fifth generation console wars, the N64 still goes on to sell 32.9
million units before being discontinued in 2002.
November 18,
1998: Having failed to catch fire with iterations like the smaller Game Boy
Pocket and Game Boy Light, Nintendo ups the ante on its portable gaming
offerings with the Gameboy Color. The Game Boy Color features a new line of
titles, while remaining backward compatible with its predecessor.

November 18, 2001: The GameCube debuts in the US. The console is the first
Nintendo system to utilize optical discs for gaming. With competition from the
PlayStation 2, and Microsoft's first-generation console, the Xbox, the GameCube
only goes on to sell 21.7 million units worldwide.
June 11, 2001: The 32-bit
portable Game Boy Advance is released. Much of the system's success comes from
its ability to play popular Super Nintendo ports like Super Mario World. The
console will sell 81.5 million units worldwide, spawning two major iterations:
the Game Boy Advance SP, and Game Boy Micro.
November 21, 2004: After a
decade and a half, Nintendo finally abandons the Game Boy line with the debut of
the DS. The portable console features two LCD screens -- the bottom of which is
touchscreen. Like the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, the system is
backward compatible. The system, including a slew of different versions like the
DSi, and DS XL, has sold about 132 million to date.

November 19, 2006: Nintendo debuts the Wii. The system features motion
controllers and a slew of innovative games that take advantage of the novel
technology. The console captures the imagination of the game-buying public,
putting Nintendo back on top in its on-going battle against Microsoft and Sony.
As of this summer, Nintendo has sold more than 74 million units
worldwide.
June 15, 2010: Nintendo announces its latest portable gaming
console, the 3DS, touting the device's ability to display 3D images without the
need for special glasses. The device will debut in March of 2011.

That Wii had me feeling like a tennis and boxing champion!

Strip Clubs Going Too Far

So wow! The strip club in Cocoa, Florida was raided because these girls were actually going out into the parking lot and having sex with their customers... Ummm more like prostitution now huh?! I understand that a lot of women are strippers to make good money and help pay for school and all, big ups to you hustlers! But you take the step too far when you actually perform sex actions. Right?!
